In regards to data mining the webtrend 7 Campaign Drilldown can give a detailed look at campaign performance, showing our statistics such as the number of visitors from a printed ad. Reports include the number of unique visitors per month, conversion metrics, and revenue information and more. The best feature webtrends has is in terms of search engine rankings such that it can distinguish between paid search engine campaigns and all organic searches. Moreoever It shows your engine ranking for various keywords versus that of our competition. With the keyword analysis we can also analyze keywords based on revenue etc .

To improve conversion rates, web trends has Scenario Analysis (as opposed to Fallout analysis in omniture) with this facility you easily see how your visitor navigated to and through a registration process to become a member of the site (this facility is also available in omnitrure). Plus, we would be able to find out not only where people checkout and abandoned the page and process and how long they spend which would help us fix the current situation. However unlike Omniture SiteCatalyst, WebTrends will allow us to see where visitors entered our site from e-mail links, to help identify effective my e-mail campaign.

Webtrend offers better segmentation data such as buyers vs. nonbuyers appeared over links on Web pages.

WebTrends' flexibility -- for example, it can analyze the log files of every major Web server -- comes with a price (this is an added feature). We must set up tracking codes and configure campaigns. Just like omniture custom reports are much easier for users to develop, and they don't rely on Excel, which is necessary in WebSideStory.

Disadvantages

  • Not as strong in analytics and multi dimension measurement compared to omniture
  • Not as flexible Distributed configurable reporting and dashboarding for all user level dash board and easy to understand by non users.
  • No Multivariate (multi dimension) analysis an alternative of AB testing
  • No Action alert reporting.
